In the heart of the Brazilian Pantanal lives an animal so elusive, few have ever seen it in the wild. Solitary, nocturnal and incredibly rare, it is the giant armadillo. David Attenborough narrates the story of this extraordinary, armoured giant and reveals how the burrows they dig create homes for hundreds of other animals. Until recently we knew virtually nothing of this species but Arnaud Desbiez, the founder of the Giant Armadillo Project, has changed all that.
